Ezine Week 21

Produced by Jonathan Bell

Dear Members

As we approach the end of our first month back at the 'Broke it has been a mixed start
on the field, however off the field a lot of work  has been going on particularly the work in
keeping bar up to scratch and in the clubhouse in general. Well done to Philip Byrne and
his team who are working very hard in this area. The upshot of this is that bar revenues are
up. Also, our social calendar is filling up and this assisting the bar revenues as well. Well
done to Becca Gallagher.

Oh by the way, Becca has asked me to let you know that there is a private function on in
the main bar on Saturday night and would members use the Ganly Room.

Last Week.

On Thursday the Under 13A's lost a closely fought battle with Merrion -chasing 97 the 13A's
replied with 84 Rory O'Loghlen scoring 36 and Sam Byers with 14.

Friday evening saw the Ladies 2nd XI beat Leinster at Sydney Parade in a convincing manner.

On Saturday the 4th XI lost narrowly to Leinster in Rathmines, posting 202 and runs
for Brian Connolly (46) Vamsi Kondaveesi (41) Burton and Murphy (28 & 29). However
Leinster won in the end by 3 wickets Alex Fox bowled well with 4-41.

The 6th XI recorded a win v Knockharley at Sydney Parade.

On Sunday the 1st XI were in action in the Sandymount derby against Railway. They
started badly however with great knocks from Allan Eastwood 72 and Brian O'Farrell 22
they recovered to a respectable 203. Despite 2 early wickets Railway won easily with 8
wickets in hand.

Across the road in Railway, the 3rd XI had a nail biting game against Railway. scoring
223 with runs from Robin Russell with 57 Conor Dwyer 42, Shovan 52* and Zack Kelly
with a quick 40. Railway chased the total with 3 wickets to spare.

On Monday evening saw the Ladies 3rd XI recorded a win against Sandyford at Marley
Park - well done to Nicky Stronge scoring an unbeaten 61*.

I apologise if some of the match accounts are a little sketchy, I can only go on info I
receive or information I hear - if Captains Managers and scorers would be good enough
 to forward match info.

News.

On Friday night last Nic McGrath had a bag stolen outside the clubhouse unfortunately
her car keys were also in the bag - the disturbing part about this is that later on on that
same night her car was then stolen. I would ask all members to keep their eyes open
and watch out for people who may not be known to the club, or people acting suspiciously.
It is not easy I know, as people assume if they don't know them that they are from the
opposition.

We had the Annual Financial meeting and thank to all of those who turned out - it was I
believe an above average attendance.

We are hoping to install broadband in the club over the coming weeks which will allow
people to check their emails and generally avail of the digital age.
