Louis Hoffman

Name: Louis Hoffman
Nickname:
Hoffer, is the only one printable
Year joined Pembroke: Played first game of Cricket ever aged 23 against Addinstown in May 1984. We were all out for 21, Maurice (Mo) Lyons was captain.
Highest team played on: 2nds Cup Final in 1998, we lost having scored 240. It was my 6th cup final and my 6th cup final defeat.
Best captain played under: Dave Keenan (3rd XI 1994, Middle A league winners) or Robin Hughes on the field. However as a massager of staring lists and organiser, the legendary Philip Bryne would have to get a mention.
Whats the one thing you do if you we're president for life: Move the club away from Dublin 4 (too many clubs already) and Monkstown FC and into a new Cricket catchment area. Did suggest some years ago a land
swap with Dun Laoghaire Golf Club
Favourite Tipple: Carlsberg
Highest Score in a match: 67 opening for the 4th XI against Railway
Union in August 1996
Best Bowling figures: 7-17 for the 4th XI away to Mullingar in September 1990. Craig Senior was bowling at the other end and had 0-30. The then captain Geraint Waters took me off?
Best cricketing memory: Middle cup final for the 3rd XI against Civil Service at Pembroke in August 2002. A great game with a great bunch of guys. The late Harry Hill told me afterwards that it was the best game he had ever watched at the Broke, praise indeed.
Worst cricketing moment: Losing 6 cup finals on the trot, worst of all being 11-7 chasing 120 in the intermediate cup final in 1990.
Funniest cricketing moment:

Watching Steve McCarthy field or Johnny Bell Bowl

Favourite innings: My first 50 against CYM in the opening game of the
1992 season at the broke. However scored 2* of the last ball of our innings in the above mentioned 2002 final, we ended up winning by 1 run!!
Favourite international cricketer: Malcolm Marshall
Best teas in Ireland: Railway (when they did sausage rolls)
Favourite ground: Apart from playing at home, probably Merrion (for the Ground, not the people)
Toys out of the pram award: Me on numerous occasions
A short summary of me as a player:

Competitive and narky!!
