Ciaran Sharp

Name: Ciaran Sharp
Nickname: Sharpy
Year joined Pembroke: Mum and Dad informed me that I was at the 1972 Leinster Senior Cup Final in the womb!! On that basis I think I was an automatic member when I was born, so I'll say 1972.
Highest team played on: 1st XI
Best captain played under: Ken Hope on the 2nds after he'd retired from senior cricket. Nurtured the young blokes and told the middle age lads to "cop on to themselves"!!
Whats the one thing you do if you we're president for life: Have a serious think about what the hell I did wrong to get the job in the first place.
Favourite Tipple: Arthur Guinness, Wynn's Coonawarra Estate Shiraz,Jim Beam and coke. Not necessarily in that order. Certainly not the Carlsberg in Pembroke though, which Bill Grogan always pointed out was"very poooar".
Highest Score in a match: 172 in a very social game in Sydney, with very friendly bowling. In a proper game, 128 not out v Leinster in Rathmines,Senior 2 Cup many years ago.
Best Bowling figures: Took 5 for 8 for the U.13's once but as an adult depends which is better, 0 for 25 or 1 for 40?
Best cricketing memory: Being at the SCG when Steve Waugh hit Richard Dawson for four to bring up a hundred last ball of the day Ashes Test 2002/03. Best personal memory, playing for the 2nds in Pembroke and having a ticket that night to go and see Spurs at Tolka Park. Bowled the opposition out for 120 or so and after a bit of rain I had about 45 minutes before Brianer, Stuart McCready and Johnny Gill left without me. I opened with Ed Dwyer. I got 100 not out and Ed got about a dozen. I still missed the Spurs game despite at one stage hitting the ball into the gardens and racing over to scale the fence myself and get the ball for the bowler.
Worst cricketing moment: Having to sit through any innings of Justin Langer's. Particularly his 250 at the SCG about 4 years ago. So boring. Or watching Michael Bevan bat for himself "again" in any ODI.Both now retired from international cricket thank God.
Funniest cricketing moment: Have been plenty. One that sticks out is Ronan Malin kicking David Streek's bat while attempting a run out in a tight finish to a Cup QF v Phoenix at Sydney Parade. It had all the aggression of a Vinnie Jones 2 footed lunge!!!
Favourite innings: Any of Ed Dwyers
Favourite international cricketer: Boring question. I'm not 12.
Best teas in Ireland: Haven't experienced them for a long time but back in the late 80's early '90's Knockharley by a country mile. Not sure they exist any more?
Favourite ground: North Sydney Oval
Toys out of the pram award: Easy one, Wild Bill storming off the pitch in a 3rds game circa 1985 and smashing up the dressing room.
A short summary of me as a player: No comment. The jury's still out.
